The story of coffee has its beginnings in Ethiopia (Abyssinia), the original home of the coffee plant, Coffee Arabica. Coffee has grown wild in the forests of South Western Ethiopia, since ancient times. These forested hillsides provide the shade of taller trees which protects the coffee trees from the harsh tropical sun. The soil of the forest floor is enriched from falling leaves, making fertilizers unnecessary. Man harvests coffee, honey, and spices by hand in this unique eco-system beneath the sheltered canopy. This leaves the forest intact and the native birds and animals undisturbed. The high degree of balance between man and nature makes the use of man-made chemicals and pesticides unnecessary. Our sustainable coffee is considered one of the finer coffees of all of Africa. There is a Dark Roast Bean and a Medium Roast Bean available in 12oz bags. |
